Information about usage-based online advertising

With the below paragraphs and articles we want to inform you about usage-based mobile advertising.
madvertise S. A.  (hereinafter referred to as madvertise) located  at 56 rue de billancourt, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt  is a digital advertising marketer and provides monetisation technology and services to owners of  mobile websites and apps (hereinafter referred to as Publisher). The advertising on the websites and apps marketed by madvertise is optimised for you by the anonymous collection and processing of your usage behaviour. As a result, you as a user benefit by receiving advertising that is more in line with your interests and you also benefit from the fact that less randomly distributed advertising is delivered to you.
Cookies are stored on your smartphone or tablet (hereinafter referred to as smart devices) to record your usage behavior. These are limited to use in web browsers. In apps, the advertiser ID (IDFA or AAID) of your smart device is used.

Which data is collected?

Information about your activities is collected on the publisher marketed by madvertise such as:

  • IP address
  • technical information about the device: browser, operating system, screen size
  • information about the geographic location of the device
  • pseudonymous ID of audience segmentation (if the website uses this type of system)
  • information about other identifiers assigned to the device (IDFA, AAID)

Please note that as part of our Services we do not collect any information that could directly identify you, such an email address, name or other directly related personal or sensitive information.

How do we collect data ?

For our App Publishers we’re using an appropriate ad serving and management platform which gathers user information to optimize the delivery of digital advertising. We use this information effectively for operational, statistical reporting and analytics purposes.
A SDK, or Software Development Kit, is the software used by our publishers to integrate our technology with their mobile application. Madvertise uses the SDK to deliver relevant ads to users of apps and websites and thereby provide an optimized user experience. The SDK retrieves campaign and device specific data for current and later use through these apps and stores it at our servers using an secure connection.

For which purposes and on which grounds will personal data be processed?

1. Purposes for data usage and storage

Madvertise does not receive, collect or process personal data outside the following purposes:
to perform our services to our clients and publishers, including providing, operating, managing, maintaining and enhancing our service

  • to perform targeted digital advertising to increase the relevance of the ads displayed to you
  • to perform optimization of campaign accuracy, quality and performance, including the number of ad contacts per user per day
  • to customize ads to a particular location
  • to report aggregated statistics

If you gave your clear and informed consent when visiting sites or apps of our publishers, we can analyse your interaction with ads to learn and to build anonymised audience profiles.

2. Legal Grounds

When we are operating as a data processor, we are processing the data on behalf of our clients based on their instructions. Therefore, they are accountable for the establishment of an appropriate legal basis for the processing of the data. How long do we store the data?

The data we use to provide our services will be stored for a maximum of twelve months. Once the duration period has been reached, the stored data are transformed to a format where they are no longer related to an digital identifier (Advertiser ID) for archive and security reasons.

Your privacy rights

When we are operating as a data controller, you can exercise your rights directly to us. Please note that we do process personal data on behalf of our Publishers. In some cases, it may be appropriate for you to exercise your rights directly on the Publisher of your choice.

You can confirm your personal data is being processed and/or to provide you a copy of your Personal Data.

The following operations can be processed:
– rectify your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
– withdraw your consent;
– erase your Personal Data, for instance if it is unlawfully processed or if you withdraw your consent

Your request should be addressed to We will respond within one month. If permitted under applicable legislation, we may extend the response period to two months if such is necessary due to the complexity and number of requests. We will notify and explain the reasons of any extension to you. If we deny your request, we will inform you of the reasons of such denial.

Deactivation of personalised advertising / Opt Out

In the apps marketed by us, the privacy settings can be set and managed in a separate consent form within the app. Alternatively, the settings used for online advertising can be managed in the operating system of your Smart Device:

Access the “Ads” menu. This menu includes a link to reset your advertising ID, and the opt-out.

Transfer of personal data outside of the European Union

personal data may be transferred to a partner located in a third country not providing adequate protection regarding data protection. With these partners, we sign standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission to ensure an adequate level of protection.
When personal data may be transferred in the United States of America, we ensure that the other party is complying with the Privacy Shield Framework, regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union to the United States, respectively.
